Foothills route

Lenoir, Granite Falls, Hudson, Sawmills, Hickory, Newton, Morganton, Valdese — pickup runs the same day. Antique restoration, residential reupholstery, and restaurant work are the common project types here. The foothills are our home base — turnaround is fastest, scheduling is most flexible, and the Lenoir shop is at the center of the route.

The furniture-making heritage of the foothills means a lot of our customers have heirloom Hickory Chair, Pearson, Drexel, Henredon, and Heritage pieces. We do a lot of antique restoration work on this route, plus daily-driver residential and the regular restaurant booth rebuilds for venues across the corridor.

Charlotte metro route

Charlotte, Matthews, Mint Hill, Concord, Kannapolis, Indian Trail, Monroe, Waxhaw — pickup runs weekly. Medical and dental practices, restaurants, and high-end residential are the bulk of this route. Charlotte's growth over the last decade has made it our second-busiest service area after the immediate foothills.

Charlotte's neighborhoods are diverse enough that we see everything from $4,000 antique restoration jobs in Eastover and Myers Park to commercial restaurant booth rebuilds in South End and University City. The route runs Tuesday or Thursday weekly; specialty pickups happen on demand.

Renew Upholstery picks up and delivers across Lenoir, Hickory, Morganton, Boone, Charlotte, Lake Norman, and Lake Wylie. Most pickups are free with the project. Scheduled routes run weekly across each region.

Lake Norman and Lake Wylie route

Mooresville, Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson, Fort Mill SC, Tega Cay SC, Rock Hill SC, Lake Wylie SC — pickup runs weekly with extra capacity on the trailer for boats. Marine vinyl, pontoon seating, and lakefront residential are the dominant project types.

Lake Norman is our densest marine route. Pontoons, runabouts, and ski boats all see us during haul-out and pre-launch periods. Lakefront residential reupholstery — sunrooms, screened porches, lake-side living rooms with constant UV — uses Sunbrella Living and performance fabrics almost exclusively.

Mountain route

Boone, Blowing Rock, Collettsville, Patterson, Globe — scheduled by appointment. Cabin and lodge furniture, vacation rentals, and antique restoration. The mountain route runs less frequently than the others because of distance and weather, but it serves a steady clientele of mountain-home owners who want quality upholstery without driving to Asheville or Charlotte.

Mountain pickups are scheduled around weather windows from November through March. Spring and summer pickups are flexible. Cabins and short-term rentals get specialized service — we do quick turnarounds for furniture replacement between guest stays.

Service area outside the standard zones

Asheville, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Statesville, and parts of Raleigh — we have delivered to all of these on commercial projects and the occasional high-value residential. Outside the standard zone we charge a flat trip fee that we quote up front. For one-off residential pieces outside the area, the cleanest path is usually a meeting halfway — customers from Asheville often meet us in Statesville for handoff.

What's free, what costs extra

Free with most reupholstery projects in our standard service area:

  • Pickup and delivery in the foothills, Charlotte metro, Lake Norman, Lake Wylie, and the Rock Hill / Fort Mill side of SC.
  • Free written estimate (in person or by photo).
  • Free fabric consultation and trade-line sample books.

Costs extra:

  • Outside the standard service area: flat trip fee, quoted up front.
  • Same-day rush pickup: $75–$150 depending on distance.
  • Removal of old pieces (when we bring back a rebuild and take an old piece for disposal): $50–$100 depending on size.

Turnaround times by route

Foothills (Lenoir, Hickory, Morganton): pickup within 2–5 days, rebuild 2–4 weeks for sofas. Charlotte metro: pickup within 1–2 weeks, rebuild 2–4 weeks. Lake Norman and Lake Wylie: pickup within 1–2 weeks, rebuild 2–4 weeks (longer for marine projects). Mountain route: pickup within 2–4 weeks (weather-dependent), rebuild 2–6 weeks.

How to schedule a pickup

Send photos and rough measurements through the contact page. We respond inside a business day with a written estimate range. Once estimates are approved, we schedule pickup on the next available route day. For mobile or commercial work, we coordinate scheduling around your operating hours. Phone calls are welcome at (828) 455-3635.

Service category overview by region

The mix of work shifts by region in our service area, which shapes scheduling and capacity:

Foothills (Lenoir, Hickory, Morganton): Heavy on antique restoration and residential reupholstery. Restaurant booth work for the local dining scene. Healthcare for the regional medical and dental practices.

Charlotte metro: Heavy on healthcare (dental, medical, vet). Restaurant and hospitality. High-end residential and design-trade work.

Lake Norman and Lake Wylie: Marine upholstery is the dominant category — pontoons, runabouts, ski boats, bass boats. Lakefront residential with sun-exposed sunrooms. Country clubs and lakefront restaurants.

Mountain route: Cabin and lodge furniture. Vacation rentals and short-term rental refresh. Antique restoration for historic homes.

Capacity is balanced across regions to keep turnaround consistent. We don't drop foothills work to chase Charlotte commercial; we don't delay marine work to handle a Charlotte residential job. Each route has its own shop time allocation.

City-specific notes from the route

Lenoir and Caldwell County: Same-day pickup for most addresses. The shop on Lynn Martin Lane is the hub. Free pickup and delivery on every reupholstery project.

Hickory, Newton, and Catawba County: Tuesday and Thursday route days. Many longtime customers from Hickory furniture-industry families. Antique restoration is common here.

Morganton, Valdese, Burke County: Weekly route. Mix of residential, restaurant, and church work.

Charlotte, Mecklenburg County: Tuesday or Thursday weekly. The bulk of our medical and high-end residential work.

Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville (Lake Norman): Weekly route, extra trailer capacity for boats during launch and haul-out seasons.

Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Lake Wylie SC (York County): Weekly route. Lake homes and growing residential demand.

Boone, Blowing Rock, Watauga County: Mountain route by appointment. Cabin refresh and short-term rental turnover are common.

Working with designers, decorators, and property managers

About a third of our work comes through designers and decorators across the Charlotte metro and the foothills. We work directly to designer specifications, send progress photos, and coordinate delivery to the project rather than the homeowner where requested. Trade pricing is available on commercial fabric lines for designers with active accounts.

Property managers in Hickory, Charlotte, and the Lake Wylie communities use us for short-term rental refresh, vacation home updates, and apartment community common areas. Turnaround on these is fast — typically 1–2 weeks — and we coordinate around the rental calendar so refresh happens during slow weeks.

For real estate stagers and investors flipping homes, we sometimes do quick-turnaround recovers on existing furniture to bring it up to staging quality. Faster than buying new and visibly better than the original piece.

Service area at a glance — every town we serve

Our standard service area covers western North Carolina, the Charlotte metro, and the Lake Wylie / Rock Hill side of South Carolina. Specifically:

If your address isn't listed, ask anyway. We have delivered to Asheville, Greensboro, Statesville, and parts of Raleigh on commercial projects, and we have customers in mountain communities who meet us halfway for handoff.

How to start a project with Renew Upholstery

Three ways to start, all of them free:

  1. Send photos and a few measurements through the contact page. We respond inside a business day with a written estimate range.
  2. Call the shop at (828) 455-3635. We answer during shop hours, Monday through Friday 8 AM – 7 PM.
  3. Schedule a free in-person estimate. Free across our standard service area; usually within the same week for the foothills and within 1–2 weeks for the Charlotte and Lake routes.

What helps us help you faster: the front, back, and arm shots of the piece; a photo of the underside if you can flip it; rough measurements (length × depth × height); and a note about what fabric direction you are leaning. The more specific you are, the tighter the initial estimate range we can quote.

Estimates are written, no-obligation, and put numbers on paper so you can compare against any new-furniture or competing-shop quote sitting on your kitchen table. We don't push timelines, run sales follow-up calls, or pressure decisions. Family-owned in Lenoir, NC since 2012; pickup and delivery free across most of the western NC and Charlotte metro service area.

Why customers across western NC and the Charlotte metro choose Renew

The work speaks for itself; what customers tell us also matters. The recurring themes from customer reviews across western NC, the Charlotte metro, and the Lake Wylie communities:

  • Honest estimates. If a piece isn't worth rebuilding we say so. We have walked away from work on pieces that didn't justify the rebuild cost.
  • Timeline reliability. When we quote 2–4 weeks, the piece comes back in 2–4 weeks. Backorders are communicated immediately, not at the end of the project.
  • Materials transparency. The fabric we put on, the foam density we install, and the thread we sew with are all documented on the invoice. Future repair or refresh is straightforward.
  • Local presence. Workshop in Lenoir, NC, family-owned since 2012, weekly pickup routes through Hickory, Morganton, Charlotte, Mooresville, and Lake Wylie. We are not a regional broker; we are the shop doing the work.
  • Range of capability. Residential, commercial, marine, healthcare, antique, automotive — under one roof, with the same standards across categories.
